The City of Melbourne and the Y are proud to support and be a part of the Victorian Seniors Festival throughout October.

We have a range of free events and classes across all our sites, aimed at seniors aged 50 and over. Get involved to gain new experiences, socialise with others and have fun! You don’t have to be a member with us – everyone is welcome to join the celebration.

Take a look at the events schedule at each of our sites below. Once you book a session, you’ll receive a confirmation closer to the time of the event with further details.

 

Seniors Festival schedule Carlton Baths (248 Rathdowne St, Carlton)

Aqua Aerobics Class
Friday 11 October
12:00pm – 1:00pm

Jump in the warm water at our outdoor pool and enjoy a fun workout in gorgeous surroundings. Lunch will be provided after the class.

Resuscitate Your Mate
Monday 14 October
10:00am – 11:30am
Join this interactive workshop to learn how to help someone in an emergency situation. Learn about DRSABCD, defibrillator use, calling for help and resuscitation skills.

Seniors Sports Day
Wednesday 23 October
10:00am – 1:00pm
Have a go at pickleball, walking football, strength training and more! Participants rotate through four activities during the morning with refreshments provided throughout

Low-impact Cardio Class

This class is an aerobic style class that encompasses low impact and medium intensity workouts. Lunch will be provided after the class.

Walking Football (intergenerational event)

Bring the grandkids along for a fun afternoon together at our family-friendly walking football event. Walking football is a modified, non-contact version of soccer suitable for anyone who is able to walk. Refreshments provided after the session.

Riverslide Skate Park (Boathouse Drive, Melbourne)

Free coffee or hot drink on weekends in October Bring your grandchildren to the skate park and enjoy a free coffee or hot drink on us. Donate a gold coin to YMCA Open Doors if you like. No need to book – just turn up!

 

The Docklands Hub (80 Harbour Esplanade, Docklands)

Tai Chi

Join this ancient Chinese martial art class, which practices a series of slow gentle movements and physical postures, a meditative state of mind and controlled breathing.

Come & Try Walking Football
Tuesday 8 October 2:00pm – 3:00pm
This is class is suitable for all abilities and anyone who can walk. Walking football is a modified version of soccer played in a safe, fun, family-friendly environment. There is no running, no contact, no tackles from behind and no kicking balls above the waist. Come and try it out!  Book now

Every Tuesday in October 11:00am – 11:45am
This class focuses on engaging the muscles, particularly around the core. It can help improve strength, stability, athletic performance, balance, posture, weight loss and injury recovery. Book into one of the five classes on offer!
