About us
Kensington Town Hall is part of Active Melbourne, which is owned by City of Melbourne and run by YMCA Victoria.We have various spaces available for hire for your event, club or organisation. Kensington Town Hall is a great spot for large civic events, community social events, weddings and celebrations, exhibitions, markets, conferences and presentations, as well as workshops and classes.
We also host group fitness classes.
Facilities
Kensington Town Hall includes:- five bookable rooms;
- free WiFi;
- AV equipment;
- tables and chairs available for all rooms;
- kitchen access;
- and toilet access.

Main hall
The main hall is a traditional community hall and is suitable for large civic events, weddings, exhibitions, markets, conferences and light recreational activities. The space features a stage, green room, AV equipment, as well as tables and chairs.
The main hall is located on the ground floor of Kensington Town Hall. In order to access the kitchen, the main hall must be booked in conjunction with the supper room.
This space caters for up to 220 people (theatre style) or 180 people (seated at tables).

Supper room
The supper room is suitable for small civic events, community social functions, celebratory events, exhibitions, seminars as well as light recreational activities. The space features tables and chairs, minimal heating and cooling and polished floorboards.
The supper room is located on the ground floor of Kensington Town Hall.
The supper room comes with kitchen access, the supper room must be booked in order to access the kitchen. The room can be booked with the main hall.
This space caters for up to 60 people (theatre style) or 40 people (seated at tables). -
Conference room
The conference room is suitable for conferences, workshops, classes and presentations. The space features a PC with wireless keyboard and mouse, 60 inch mounted LCD screen, wall-housed input plate for VGA, audio and HDMI, wall-mounted control panel, conference call technology, Wi-Fi and a carpeted floor.
The conference room is located on the first floor of Kensington Town Hall.
This space caters for up to 25 people (seated at tables). -
Business hub
The business hub is suitable for video conferencing, workshops, classes and presentations. The space features an AV system (which has an HDMI connection and can support video conferencing), requires you to bring your own laptop, has Wi-Fi and a carpeted floor.
The business hub is located on the first floor of Kensington Town Hall. The business hub is available for ongoing or one-off events.
This space caters for up to 20 people (seated at tables). -
Training room
The training room is a multi-purpose space suitable for meetings, rehearsals and as a break out space. The space features a computer and screen, mobile electronic whiteboard, two trestle tables, up to 15 chairs (which can be arranged to suit your requirements), Wi-Fi and a carpeted floor.
The training room is located on the first floor of Kensington Town Hall.
This space caters for up to 10 people (seated at tables). -
Accessibility and additional facilities
Please note: - access to the building is via a ramp and stairs;
- all spaces located on the first floor can be accessed via the lift on the main floor;
- toilets are located on the ground floor;
- no permanent storage is available.

*Please note that when viewing availability, other facilities will also be available as options. Only Kensington Town Hall is managed by YMCA. All bookings are subject to terms and conditions.
Group fitness
We host the following group fitness classes; Swiss Ball Core, Yoga and Young at Heart.

Class etiquette
All members and guests participating in group fitness classes must wear suitable exercise clothing and enclosed sports shoes in exercise areas, except for Yoga and Pilates classes.
We do not allow clothing with offensive images or inappropriate advertising.
